NMR-ROCKS

The project is aimed on the development and application of an innovative method of measuring diffusion using MRI. The innovation, based on international patent applications, will be devoted to achieve the independence of the results from induced internal magnetic field gradients, the main source of error in the measurements of rock cores using NMR methods.
The method will be used to improve the estimation of petrophysical parameters of rocks containing water and hydrocarbons from the oil an gas deposits in Poland. Verification of the method’s accuracy will be carried out using conventional NMR imaging and complementary methods such as mercury porosimetry and micro CT in connection with petrographic studies.
Basic measurements will be performed using the scanner equipped with a module simulating conditions in the real environment in reservoir, as well as a module for proton diffusion imaging and permanent magnet with a magnetic field corresponding to fields applied in MRI well logging.
